Things To Do In Karpenisi Greece

Karpenisi is nestled right in Central Greece. It is also the capital of Evrytania. The town was built right on the slopes of the beautiful Mount Tymfristos at an altitude of 1000 meters above sea level. Visitors will find a large selection of choice hotels, rooms and guesthouses to fit any budget. Accommodation in Karpenisi is very affordable. This will enable guests from all over to easily enjoy Greece at a reasonable price.

During the winter months of late December to about mid April, Karpenisi is a winter hot spot. Visitors who enjoy skiing and winter sports come flocking to Karpenisi and surrounding towns to enjoy the popular ski centre Velhouhi.

Velouchi ski resort is located 12 km from Karpenisi. The Centre was created in 1974. Throughout the years improvements have been continously made to the resort. On site there is a functioning Chalet of hospitality of 100 individuals, restaurant, caferteria, bar, first aid and a dance floor. Bus transportation is available to and from the ski resort.

Velouchi has 11 runs, 6 ski lifts and a ski school. The slopes range in different levels of difficulty of oscillating hypsometric difference from 1800- 2040m. Bring your own equipment or take advantage of the Centre’s rental options. Experience an amazing view of the city below and the majestic mountains from one of the many ski lifts.

Rafting- It is done on a six to twelve seater inflatable that slides down the rivers of the Evrytania. While rafting, enjoy the lush landscape along with an adrenaline rush. River Trikeriotis is considered one of Greece’s most demanding rivers to raft. This course is for the experienced adventurer.

Trekking- Take a nature walk tour of the famous Proussou Monastery. Near the end of the trek, vistors can rappel down into Mavri Spilia Gorge. Another Trekking option leads from Aniada village of Mount Kaliakoudas. This path is filled with fir trees and is good for all age groups.

Canoe and Kayak- Tours of the Kremaston Reservoir are available on one or two seater canoes that are especially designed for use on lakes. Kayaking activities are located on the River Krikelopotamos. This river is packed full of channels and gushing rapids. Good kayaking technique is required.

Canyoning- It is the combination of trekking, swimming and rapelling. Viniani Gorge is relatively easy for all ages. This gorge holds five waterfalls and waterslides. The highest waterfall is 15m.

4×4- This activity offers tours to Agrafa, Helidona and Panta Vrechi.
